Vibrant use of color and movement are often the first things observed in the art of Lumi (Emily) Forbes. Self-taught, Lumi began using art in adulthood as a means of therapy to cope with disability. They are always exploring new mediums and pushing their own artistic boundaries, with a certain affinity for acrylics, alcohol ink, and mixed media. Their expressive, intuitive style takes influences from nature, modern life, and a healthy dose of curiosity. A native Minnesotan, Lumi has a degree in Urban Studies and has always had a very analytical and creative mind. This allows them to quietly observe the world around themself and turn it into ethereal, imaginative works that give the viewer a feeling of wonderment. They believe the key to life is finding one’s own magic.
Lumi’s work is available for purchase online and at various events and art shows. Check out Etsy and ArtLifting for prints and original art. The Sisu Cat Studio Redbubble and Society6 shops offer art prints as well as many unique printed items!
